I can't believe today is October 31..where has time gone!? In Lieu of today I always seem to reminisce when I was a little girl and my mom would hold my sister and I so tight and read us our favorite Halloween stories. A poem that I will always vividly remember and still to this day say the words repeatedly around the 31 would be..
(by Jack Prelutsky)
It's Halloween! It's Halloween!
The moon is full and bright
And we shall see what can't be seen
On any other night.
Skeletons and ghosts and ghouls,
Grinning goblins fighting duels,
Werewolves rising from their tombs,
Witches on their magic brooms.
In masks and gowns
we haunt the street
And knock on doors
for trick or treat.
Tonight we are the king and queen,
For oh tonight it's Halloween!
...Your kiddos may enjoy it like we did (and still do).
I am going to be devouring large amounts of sugary sweets (that will most likely disagree with my stomach at some point) and enjoying all my incredible city of Charlotte has to offer. We have already been to a campground massacre haunted house..and let me say that won't be happening again..but I do think we may attend something rather spooky. Brody is supposed to be a pumpkin this year, but since he wont move after being dressed I have accepted the fact that he will sport a green and purple spider bandanna (win some loose some..). We also have a pumpkin to carve (actually 3) so I am hoping we at least get one done to put outside this evening..this would be a first that we have waited until the 31 to carve and roast seeds...oh well.. like I mentioned, this month has flown by!
I hope you enjoy all things fun and spooky tonight too! Stay safe and eat lots of candy!
