Beck's Abode: Step 1
So I have yet to make a sub category for everything I'm doing at my new place...but can't help but to keep you posted on what I am getting done! My boyfriend has been helping me left and right hang tedious wall art/curtains/shelves...and anything else that requires screws & nails. We have hung most everything minus curtains in my bedroom... but that should be getting done today or tomorrow (fingers crossed). My TV has to be mounted on the wall, so let's hope that will get done today/tomorrow at some point too!
Everything is moved in the apartment except for a couple pieces in the storage unit (my tall wooden hutch + etc.) AND the couch set (which I have absolute no clue what I wanna go with anymore). It's hard to decide if you should get something well made/brand new/could-use-it-later-in-life type of couch.... or something used/throw-it-away-once-you-move-again type of couch. So we will see what I end up going with! ..I'll be sure to let you know once I've overcome all this indecisiveness.
I have begun washing everything from sheets to towels... so the linen closet can get filled to the brim with clean textiles. We also moved the one red chair I had for the living room.. into my bedroom (I've always wanted a nice chair in my room for lounging and unwinding!). This gives me more space in the living room to put a couch and coffee table there.
Corey and I found a really informative website about this homemaker (Ana White) who has a book coming out "the handbuilt home." She basically made her whole house from wood including furniture from nursery changing tables to gorgeous hutches. We plan on making one of her coffee table ideas that utilizes crates and forms them into a rectangular table. We will see how it turns out ..and I will blog on the process of making if you wanna give it a go sometime.
The kitchen is pretty much the only thing that is "done." We went to IKEA and I got a few things I was needing like a new cutting board and some extra white frames for my gallery wall. Everything there is always so affordable/chic/efficient/eye catching which is why I'm slightly in love with the place. I could spend hours easily shopping through each aisle.
So there are a few more things to get done (clearly) but I snagged a few photos of the place since the last ones you saw were quite bare. Can't wait to get it completed and show you all my vision for the space :) Enjoy!
